How the partnership works:
Each mentoring teacher who partners with us will receive a $500 stipend for themselves. While each class will receive $500 in prize money-- 2 winners will receive $250, allocated by Rising Earth.
Teachers can assign the contest as either a class project or homework, helping the students navigate the process and get to the finish line. For the teachers' ease, we've set up the materials and project steps will be on our site as well as emailed to you for ease!! All the prep is done!!
The finalists' stories will be showcased on our website along with the names of their school and mentoring teacher.
The topics for each year's graphic short stories will vary but all of the stories created within the classroom or assigned for homework will bring light to our urban renewal and ecological healing. The stories also provide a greater connection with the natural world within our communities and cities.
Currently we are inviting 4 partnership classes for our spring contest. 2 from LA and 2 from NYC (only one per school).
