Alumni Teen Production Council
Summer Internship

The Teen Production Council with Rising Earth has been an invaluable summer internship experience for me. I have been a part of the program for 3 summers, and I have learned so much from the members, guest speakers and the novel Luna — I have gained awareness of current environmental issues and knowledge on how to be a better contributor to the conservation of the earth and how to be nature’s advocate. I am so grateful for the opportunity that Rising Earth has given me, and I am certain I will be continuing being a part of it in the future.

If you have completed any TPC programs and are interested in being a part of the 2023 Alumni Internship, please reach out to our team!

This program invites back those who have completed the Teen Production Council Internship. With the knowledge and experience gained from the past program, the Alumni Program dives deeper into topics and tasks while working more closely with the team and college interns.

Alumni members through the 7 week summer program get to see how their submissions have influenced Luna and other educational projects. As the following program to the Teen Production Council Internship, weekly tasks and check-ins will continue supporting Alumni members while allowing spaces for reflection and discussion leading to a culminating final project. At the end of the program, our team will send you a signed letter to recognize Volunteer hours that Council members have completed over the summer. Alumni members are also invited to work with the team through the school year on various projects of interest.

Objectives

  • Use the knowledge and experience gathered the previous program to explore deeper into creative work and environmental justice concepts

  • Communicate and express youth environmentalist stories through different creative mediums and stages of the creative process

  • Expand knowledge in interdisciplinary fields surrounding the environment and recognize common terms

  • Understand the importance and use of voice to bring attention to environmental injustice

  • Apply ideas of connection to the environment through self-care and meditation

Connection to Higher-Level Learning

Exploring issues in frontline communities can help form the basis of the environmental concepts, which are becoming increasingly in-demand knowledge for careers and future aspirations. As such, these are frequently explored in higher-level education, and topics learned from this program can be applied as background knowledge. This can allow for a better understanding in these environmental courses and can help provide an insight into environmental fields like Environmental Science, Policy, and Engineering, as well as fields that require methods of sustainability like Architecture, Economics, Law, and Business.
