Our Graphic Novels

Amplifying true stories of young humanitarian and environmental advocates.

We're creating graphic novels that connect a personal narrative of a real youth activist or innovator to an environmental condition. This provides a rich, engaging, and cohesive platform to investigate the history, science, and social issues behind each condition. By illustrating the choices and roles human beings have played throughout our environmental history, we can understand more clearly where we are now and how things might progress.

THROUGH VISUAL ARTS AND STORYTELLING, WE FOSTER RELATIONSHIP AND ACTION FOR OUR INTERCONNECTED
LIVING WORLDS.

There are a lot of things that distract teenagers these days. A lot that are more exciting than a textbook. So things like Rising Earth’s graphic novels are a step in the right direction. I think it’s the future of education.

As a part of our creative process, we team up with young people who give us crucial feedback and play key roles in the development of our work. Immersed in topics that are relevant to these future leaders, our programs deepen our participants’ personal human impact awareness. Whether at the middle school, high school or college level, our youth continue on to be informed, inspired, and empowered voices for the healing of our planet.

The stories Rising Earth tells are about young people around my age. It’s a different feeling when you learn about someone who’s your own age. It helps young people realize ‘Wow, I CAN make a difference.’

In order to bring our materials to life in the classroom, each of our graphic novels are accompanied by comprehensive curriculum guides created for youth ages 12-18.

Our team of passionate curriculum writers include awareness exercises and hands-on-activities in all our units in order for students to personalize learnings for themselves and their communities.

Our units are aligned with the Common Core Learning Standards and contain lesson plans, primary sources, and worksheets.
